London 2012, Begaj returns without a medal

After Majlinda Kelmendi, the other Albanian athlete left the London
Olympics, Romela Begaj. The 25 year old weightlifter was far from her
best shape, and ranked 11th for 58 kg weights.

In snatch Begaj lifted easily 101 kg, showing to be a strong competitor. But everything changed here. Romela failed in the second round with 105 kg, and even in the third round with the same weight.

In clean and jerk Romela passed the first round with 115, but same as in the first style she failed in the next two rounds with 121 kg.

The Albanian weightlifter stopped at 216 kg in total, far from the first place of 246 kg.

The golden medal went to the chinese Li who lifted 108 kg, setting a new olympic record, and in snatch she lifted 138 kg, 246 kg in total. The Chinese weightlifter failed the world record in both rounds, which is 251 kg.

The silver medal went to the Thai Pimsiri, while the Ukrainian Yuliya Kalina won the bronze one. On Tuesday, three other Albanian sportsment will complete, the two weight lifters Daniel Godelli and Briken Calja in weight 69 kg and swimmer Sidni Hoxha in 100 meters.
