While the June 21st local elections are getting closer, the OSCE
presence in Albania started training the police for their role in the
elections.

The General Chief of Police, Artan Didi, declared that the safety in these elections is very important.

“We will manifest the highest professional standards and will cooperate with the Central Election Commission”, he declared.

The OSCE Ambassador to Tirana, Florian Rauning, promised to support these trainings since they will allow the police to get to know the procedures and standards.

In the first phase of the training on March 24th and 27th there will be 110 high-level officials involved, including the General Vice Chiefs of Police, District Directors, Border and Immigration Police and Heads of Precincts.

The OSCE will then train six grups of trainers who will expand the training procedures through to 6300 police officers by April 30th.
