Lobbying for Berisha’s survival

Ditmir Bushati, head of the Integration Parliamentary Commission,
declared that the usage of 400.000 USD for trying to preserve the image
of the Albanian government is a desperate effort of Berisha to still
keep his power.
“We are facing a phenomenon that is increasing the cost for the Albanian tax payers each day more. It is clear that Berisha is the only Prime Minister in NATO and Europe who pays for his anti-American and anti-western sentiments, and this price will be paid by the Albanian citizens”, Bushati declared.
Top Channel published yesterday a Council of Ministers verdict that was proposed by the Ministry of Integration. Bushati declared that this action means going beyond the competences of the Ministry led by Majlinda Bregu.
“This is a paradox. A ministry proposes 400.000 for the Prime Minister to pay lobbying favors in the United States, executed by the Minsitry of Finances, when it is not a competence of the Ministry of Integration. This is against the Constitution, because the decision should have been published right away on the Official Bulletin, since it entered in effect immediately. Today we are a few days after the highest United States representative in Tirana declared that this government is going in a path that clashes with the United States”, Bushati declared.
When contacted by Top Channel, the Ministry of integration refused to comment on this matter.
Ditmir Bushati commented Berisha’s promise that his government would remove the visa regime with the United States of America.
“Berisha cannot promise to lift the visa regime with the United States of America, when the United States of America has almost put a visa on him”, Bushati declared.
Countries like Poland, Romania and Bulgaria, although they are in the European Union, cannot enter the United States territory without a visa.
