Top Channel visited the National Center of Asylum Seekers in Babrru,
where he contacted with the representatives of this community.

Sharjar Qiomanish is a computer engineer who studied in the USA. He says that Iranians are a people that love democracy, and they see Albania as a democratic country. “When Iran gets liberated, I will return there. But I also like it here. We thank the Albanian government and Albanian people for welcoming us”, he said.

A mujahedeen woman, English teacher, says she still has in her mind the memories of too many executions. She thanks the Albanian people and government, and says that she arrived alone. Her parents were dead, and her brother is in Iran. “When our country will be liberated, we will invite Albanians to visit us there”, says Sahara Bayat.

The Mujahedeens are waiting for the asylum seeker status. After staying for some months in the camp, they will be sheltered to homes in Tirana’s suburbs. Hundreds of others are expected to arrive in the days to come.
