Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future Albania will take the presidency of the Council of Europe and as such it
will be responsible for the implementation of the human rights.
In this framework, the Council of Europe members held a meeting with the LGTB group, in which they discussed about the difficulties that these groups have regarding discrimination and the denial of basic rights, such as employment.
The Commissioner of the Council of Europe declared that Albania is part of a project that will be monitored by the international community.
Albania has a good legal frame, since 2010. Now it is important to implement these laws. Montenegro, Italy, Albania and Serbia will work until 2013 with this project that is based on voluntary contribution and based on what the countries set as needs.
In this meeting it was discussed that in Albania, as in many other European countries, the gay rights are not respected and in many of them the gay pride parades are not allowed, which is a violation of the human rights.
