Let’s resolve the immunity issue

In a meeting with the leaders of the Youth Movement for Integration, the
leader of the Socialist Movement for Integration, Ilir Meta,
congratulated the organization for the dynamic work. He promised a wide
representation of the YMI in the structures of this political force, for
turning it into a powerful voice of all levels.
Meta spoke about the recent political developments in the country, such as the electoral reform, including the efforts for Constitutional amends that are related with the immunities.
“Very important weeks are waiting ahead of us. A few days ago was approved the electoral reform, in which we abstained. This means that we valued the consensus, despite the delays. But naturally we were convinced that all possibilities were there for correcting some injustices created with the electoral code through the time. We valued consensus because it was a request of the EU, a very important request that will enable Albania to receive the EU candidate status this autumn. The same goes for the immunity of high rank officials and politicians, something in which the SMI has been very active, in order to contribute with an acceptable solution of this issue, and which is very important for receiving the EU candidate status”, Meta declared.
