Lesi against Tirana Court decision

Famous for his direct declarations, Nikoll Lesi, one of the government’s
allies, didn’t spare critics as regards the Court decision that found
the January 21st defendants not guilty, turning into the first voice
from the majority that is against what happened at the Tirana Court.
“The decision was incomplete and not transparent. Allow me to say that I support the US Embassy declaration, and that the Tirana Court declaration today was rushed, absurd and with a grudge against the US. I cannot agree with such a decision”, Lesi declared.
Lesi says the judges’ reaction is unacceptable.
“Someone from the government must support the US Embassy on this case, because they are being wrongfully accused by the Tirana Court”, Lesi declared.
According to Lesi, this doesn’t help Albania’s relations with the US.
“This hampers the excellent relations with the US. We have negative examples in the Albanian politics, like that of 1996, when we rushed and opposed some US suggestions on some matters that were in fact right”, Lesi declared.
