Leka Zogu buried with honors

Family members, relatives, Albanian leaders and politicians honored Leka Zogu today at his funeral.

For more than two hours, hundreds of people paid homage at the hall of the Albanian Parliament, where was placed the coffin of the pretender of the Albanian Throne.

Zogu’s family received the condolences of the Albanian President, Bamir Topi, the President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, the Parliament Speaker, Jozefina Topalli, the Albanina PM, Sali Berisha, the Mayor of Tirana, Lulzim Basha, Socialist MPs and many Ministers, politicians, religious leaders and many people who had come from abroad.

The Mayor of Tirana, Lulzim Basha, declared that the Royal Family never became vassal to any other empire.

“The Zogu family never negotiated for the Royal Crown, always considering it as the crown of the Albanians”, Basha declared.

Leka Zogu suffered a cardiac arrest on November 25th, and died on December 30th. Saturday was declared a day of mourning for his honor.
The Albanian President, Bamir Topi and the First Lady, Teuta Topi, expressed their condolences to the family this Friday.

The prestigious British Newspaper, the Independent, dedicated a full article to the pretender of the Albanian Throne, titled: “The controversial king of Albanains”.

PM Berisha and his cabinet maintained one minute of silence for his honor.

Condolences for the family came from Prishtine and the politicians in Macedonia.
