The Parliament of Northern Macedonia has approved the law that makes Albanian the second official language, while the opposition MPs asked to delay it once more, waiting for a final report form the Venice Commission.
According to the opposition, the Venice Commission has some remarks about the way how the language law was made.
But the political parties in power underlined that this law is being approved only for supervising the law that has already passed, regarding the usage of the languages.
The proposition comes from the Ministry of Justice and regulates the inspection and the appointing of inspectors. Article 22 of the law foresees fines from 300 to 5000 Euros if the law has not been properly implemented.
