The marathon trial for the extradition of Ilir Kumbaro to Albania to
face charges for the kidnapping and disappearance of the businessman Remzi
Hoxha is still continuing in London.
The judge decided today to adjourn the next session to November 1st.
This was the joint request of the representative of the Albanian state, Rachel Scot and Ilir Kumbaro’s lawyer, John Jones, who wanted the session to be postponed again in the court of Westminster, London.
The motive for postponing today’s session is related with the fact that the Supreme Court of Albania has not ruled a decision yet.
This court, according to Kumbaro’s lawyer, John Jones, was unable to find the majority votes for ruling the extradition of Rrapo in Tirana, after the second order of arrest. The 12 judges gave equal votes, six in favor and six against.
The judge of the Howard Riddle case declared that on September is expected the next session in Tirana for this case, after the Albanian President, Bamir Topi, decreed two new judges.
The former Director of the First Directory of National Intelligence Service in Tirana, then controlled by President Berisha, is accused for the kidnapping and the disappearance of the businessman Remzi Hoxhaj, an accusation that Kumbaro denies.
But today’s session was tensioned, due to an Albanian citizen who was presented as Bashkim Krasniqi from Lezhe, who was the indignated for the dragging of Ilir Kumbaro’s extradition process.
After the court session, there was a physical clash between Kumbaro and his son with the revolted Albanian, the images of which were filmed exclusively by Top-Channel, BBC and Daily Mail.
