Kumbaro, 15 years to prison

17 years after the event that involved the Secret Service, the justice took the first verdict after 124 judicial cases on a secret operation that brought the kidnapping of Ziso Kristopulli, Avdyl Loshaj and Remzi Hoxha, who underwent tortures.

Different from the Prosecution, the court changed the number of charges, but Arben Sefgjini and Avni Koldashi benefit from the amnesty of 2007 and the charges agaisnt them are suspended.

The Court ruled that the kidnapping of these citizens was a violation of their rights, since it was carried out for profit. This adds another charge to Ilir Kumbaro, that of torture with death as consequence.

“Remzi Hoxha died a few days after he was kidnapped, and during these days he was under the custody of the Secret Service. Ilir Kumbaro have kept them against their will and systematically tortured them, which caused the death of Remzi Hoxha”, the court verdict says.

The Court said that although they cannot prove the circumstances in which Remzi Hoxha died, it was impossible for him to escape, and this means that he died under the Secret Service Custody.

After the trial, Remzi Hoxha’s son attacked not only the judiciary, but also the Prime Minister with his accusations.

“The Albanian justice killed our father for the second time today. This is the justice of Sali Berisha and I am ashamed to say that I’m Albanian. Unfortunately, these people are currently working for Pime Minister Berisha, who has given the orders, together with Bashkim Gazidede. These are the evidence showing that Berisha has obstructed justice”, Ardian Hoxha declared.
