The Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time Minister of Justice,
Hajredin Kuqi, warned his resignation in case article 37 and 38 of the
new Penal Code will not be removed.
He mentioned this topic the vowing ceremony of the Kosovo notaries, saying that he will ask the Kosovo President, Atifete Jahjaga, to return the Penal Code law.
“If Jahjaga signs, I will amend it within 24 hours. I will lobby at the Kosovo Parliament for those two articles to not be approved. If they will enter in act in January 1st, I will resign as Minister”, he declared.
Articles 37 and 38 of the New Penal Code have been also opposed by Kosovo journalists. They asked the President to return it to the Parliament, since they violate the freedom of speech.
