Kosovo’s “The Wedding” competing for the Oscars

The “Wedding”, written and directed by Blerta Zeqiri, has won two prizes in the International Film Festival of Tallin. It is the official proposition of Kosovo for the “Best Foreign Film” category in the Oscars.

Zeqiri said that she is very happy that Kosovo proposed her movie to represent the country, but she didn’t want to create illusions.

“I don’t have high hopes, because it is a very big race. We are competing against movies from all over the world. I am very happy but also I recognize that it is a very hard feat”, Blerta Zeqiri said.

The Wedding is about a love triangle before and after a wedding and same-sex relations, a topic that is still very hard to go through the Albanian reality.
