Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future Kosovo officials are mentioning the model of two Germanies, which,
according to them, would fix the relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
The Kosovo Foreign Minister, Enver Hoxhaj, said for “Koha Ditore” that this model would make Serbia not recognize Kosovo, but allow its membership in the UN.
“Kosovo’s independence according to this model not only serves to the regulation of a normal relation, but it’s also interesting, since both Germanies were UN members. The proposition to create interconnection offices serves more to this model, together with the concept of a good relations with the neighbours”, Hoxhaj declared.
According to Hoxhaj, the full normalization of the relations will be held when Serbia will accept Kosovo’s state.
This declaration of the Kosovo Foreign Ministers has stirred different reactions in Prishtina. PDK, which holds the majority in Parliament, gave no comment if they support this model or not. LDK and AAK also see the presentation of such a concept as rushed.
“PDK has clearly said that we have the laws of Kosovo and our Constitution. We also have the resolutions of the Kosovo Parliament, which have set the minimum and maximum, or the red lines, and this cannot be debated”, said Adem Grabovcki, leader of the PDK Parliamentary Group.
“You should ask Mr. Hoxhaj for these models, or what he meant with that. We have a Constitution that came out of the Ahtisari package. Kosovo has its internal Constitution and we see no reason why we should rush with other models, because others could bring other models too”, declared Ismet Beqiri, head of the LDK Parliamentary Group.
“I think that it’s too early for this process. The time when we will bring ideas about how Serbia will recognize Kosovo, will come. We hope for this to happen as soon as possible, so that Kosovo can become a memeber of the UN, OSCE, EU and NATO”, declared the AAK Parliamentary Group leader, Ardian Gjini.
However, the next meeting between the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, and the Serbian, Ivica Dacic, will take place during this week.
