Prishtina officials announce that the Kosovo President, Hashim Thaci, will soon visit the White House, where he will be received by the US Vice President, Michael Pence.
President Thaci writes that he will keep asking US support for
reinforcing Kosovo’s international position, economic development and
integration in Euro-Atlantic Institutions.
EU has been
intermediating for the talks between Kosovo and Serbia so far, but Thaci
insists that Washington should also get involved.
Thaci met the
Serbian President in New York, during the UN Assembly. The EU High
Representative for Foreign Policy, Federica Mogherini, said that the two
leaders continued discussions for the new dialogue phase, and they
reviewed the progress made with the implementation of the Judiciary
Agreement, which will enter in effect on October 17th, as agreed in
their last meeting.
Before visiting the USA, Thaci will be
received in Vatican by Pope Francis with whom he will discuss about
creating a Commission on the Truth and Reconciliation, as part of
normalizing Kosovo-Serbia relations.
