Kosovo President supports northern operation

The Kosovo President, Atifete Jahjaga, supported the plan of the
Government of Kosovo for implementing the Trade Relations with Serbia.

Returning from her visit in Hungaria, Jahjaga attended a meeting with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, who informed her about the operation for turning the border checkpoints to functionality.

The Kosovo President encouraged all citizens to support these government measures, and urged the Serbian authorities to stop manipulating the citizens’ feelings and respect the agreements they signed in the dialogue held in Brussels.

Other Kosovo political forces appealed the Kosovo government to show determination. The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo release a press communication through which it encouraged the international mechanisms in Kosovo, KFOR and EULEX, to realize the legal and democratic objective with great care and determination, in order to place the Kosovo Police and Customs agents in the border checkpoints 1 and 31.

The ambassadors of the Western Countries, who have attended meetings with Prime Minister Thaci during the day, released several declarations expressing their gratitude for the cooperation of the Kosovo Government with its international partners, especially KFOR and EULEX, during the preparations of this big step. The ambassadors encouraged the government to continue this cooperation for consolidating the Kosovo authority through this transitory phase. The ambassadors underlined that the key of success for these efforts was the coordination of the Kosovo government with the international partners.
