Kosovo President, Hashim Thaci, said that Belgrade is abusing with the
“Greater Albania” term to legitimize their “Greater Serbia” plans.
During a press release for the news agency BETA, Thaci said that Serbia tries to keep this ghost alive because it serves to their purpose for legitimizing their goals under the nose of the EU and international community.
The Kosovo President, Hashim Thaci, reacted this April after Edi Rama declared that the absence of an EU accession will have serious consequences in the region. “If EU leaves Kosovo outside, all Albanians will live in one single space”, Thaci commented.
Asked now by BETA about the counter-responses caused by that declaration, Thaci explained that he has simply reiterated what has been confirmed for a long time, that a lack of leadership and vision in Brussels is making way for other ideologies and influences in the region, such as nationalism, extremism and political radicalization.
“On the same time, it is allowing other countries with other agendas to extend their influence in Balkan. We want peace and stability, that’s why we want a quicker accession in Euro-Atlantic structures”, Thaci said.
“I have never mentioned Greater Albania in my political discourses. That’s made up by Serbia”, THaci said, adding that Belgrade’s reactions are a repeating of old histories, with which they have manipulated and frightened their people for decades,.
