Although Kosovo population registration was expected to be completed on April 15th, the process will continue until April 19th in some communes of Pristina, Graçanica, Ferizaj, Partesh, Deçan and Kllokot.

“Some communes have not had full coverage. On behalf of the citizen’s interest and of the country, we concluded that some communes need a postponement of the deadline”, said Rifat Blaku, chairman of Central Commission of Registration.

Other communes have been able to complete the registration of population, residences and economic status as predicted.

In 3 northern communes of 37 communes in total, Leposaviq, Zubin Potok, Zveçan and in the northern Mitrovica, the registrar teams have not been able to complete the registration.

Officials declare that they are taking measures in order to conclude the process even on these areas, but they do not specify when.

“We have given another chance by postponing the deadline, so that all citizens complete the registration and have the possibility to participate”, Blaku declared.

Kjartan Bjornson of the European Commission said that after this phase will be completed, they will start processing the data.

The Statistic Institute is expected to publish the first preliminary data on June 30th, for the total Kosovo population and of those who live abroad.
