Kosovo Parliament passed with 89 votes in favor the Resolution that
fully supports Kosovo Government for establishing law and order in the
entire Kosovo territory. The Parliament appeals the international
community to help Kosovo through this process.

The Resolution approves the constitutional right of the Kosovo Government to exert full control in the entire territory of the republic and to respect the reciprocity measures with Serbia in all custom checkpoints.

Thaci: There is no turning back

Kosovo Prime Minister, Hashim Thaçi announced the actions undertaken by Kosovo Police in implementing the order issued by the Government two days ago.

Thaci declared that Kosovo is facing a new confrontation that is not an easy process.

“The Serbian strategy for separating northern Kosovo will never happen and will be opposed at any cost. Kosovo institutions will make use of all constitutional authority for defending every square meter of the territory, and for confronting everyone who disrespect law and order”, Thaci declared in front of Kosovo MPs.

Prime Minister Thaci assured that there would be no turning back. He invited the citizens to remain calm, to keep showing solidarity, understanding and trust towards Kosovo institutions and KFOR.

Self-Determination Movement proposes solution

Self-Determination movement proposed a resolution for the situation in Northern Kosovo, demanding the President to introduce the state of emergency.

In a press communication, the movement asked the Government to undertake further measures, such as interrupting dialogue with Serbia; activating all civil and institutional sources to Kosovo defense; deepening cooperation with Albania, USA and EU; reviewing EU presence in Kosovo and inviting the Government to discuss the strategy for taking Northern Kosovo under control.

The movement led by Albin Kurti emphasizes that the Government’s action was not well-coordinated, considering it as a step that was undertaken without a plan.

Belgrade appeals for calm

Belgrade appealed for dialogue and asked Northern Kosovo citizens to remain calm in front of the increasing tension.

“The Serbian Government appeals Kosovo and Metohija citizens to remain calm, to distance themselves from any kind of violence and to ignore provocations. The stance of the Serbian Government is to solve all suspended issues only through dialogue. Violence is not the way to solve the problem, from wherever it may come. The Serbian Government thinks that there must be no violent pressures, because this could damage or halt the dialogue. For us, dialogue is the only way for solving the issues in Kosovo and Metohija. It is the only way to achieve regional stability and the historical reconciliation between Serbians and Albanians”, declared the Spokesperson of the Serbian Government, Milivoje Mihaljovic.
