After the Spanish Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, went down with a non-confidence vote this Friday, Kosovo could have one more ally in the international arena.
Spain is one of the five EU countries that has not recognized Kosovo’s independence yet. Rajoy refused to sit on the same table with Thaci during the summit between the EU and other Western Balkan countries, held in Sofia during May.
The leader of the Spanish Socialists, Sanchez, comes from the party of Javier Solana, the former NATO General Secretary during the intervention in Kosovo, in 1999, and who later became EU high representative.
According to Spanish media and his online CV, Sanchez has worked in Kosovo as part of the UN mission, UNMIK.
