The Chairman of the Kosovo Economic Chamber appeals the Albanian
government to review the fiscal package that is related with export of
Kosovo products in the Albanian market.
According to him, the tax package makes it impossible for the Kosovo market to enter the Albanian state, while the Kosovo side is flexible to the Albanian goods in the Kosovo market. According to the Chairman of the Kosovo Economic Chamber, Safet Gerxhalli, taxes with the new package have an affordable cost.
“The new government is implementing a tax package that affects the imports from Kosovo. The Peja Beer has an increased tax of 237% for entering Albania, and also other products that claim to be present in the Albanian market. And also the price of analysis of products, If you have a load with a value of 3500 EUR, to analyze it you’ll need 4300 EUR”, Gerxhaliu declared.
Gerxhaliu underlined that it is time to let the folkloric patriotism aside from the policy that is being seen in the Kosovo-Albania trade relations.
“We are tired with folkloric patriotism. We cannot be happy with this reality and he economic barriers. We need to harmonize the standards and criteria, and the local producers are not demanding anything more than what is being asked by Kosovo for the Albanian goods. We’re not doing a favor to Kosovo or Albania, but we’re letting Brussels away and not showing to be serious about it”, Gerxhaliu underlined.
