Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Ambassador of Kosovo, Sulejman Selimi, asked Albania to stop
blocking Kosovo goods, saying that blocking the Kosovo flour was
something senseless. But on the same time, he criticized the Albanian
milk that was blocked by the Kosovo authorities.
“These things are senseless. Certificates for flour have never been required, and I think that we need a free market between us”, Selimi declared.
The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Ndoc Faslia, declared that after the Aflatoxine test, which resulted normal, the Albanian Customs have released the flour coming from Kosovo.
“We blocked it to verify the quantity of flour that comes to Albania through Kosovo. We have been informed that the flour contained dangerous materials and we temporarily blocked it. After the verifications, everything was in order and the flour was released”.
After the alarm for the aflatoxine in Milk, the Ministry of Agriculture ordered increased measures to prevent this dangerous substance in milk and other types of food. This order also bans the import of goods which are not accompanied by the aflatoxine certification. This was the reason why the Albanian Customs blocked 135 tons of flour from Kosovo.
This happened one day after the Kosovo Customs returned 23 tons of Albanian milk, which was commented as a trade war between the two countries.
