The Kosovo Prime Minister, Hashim Thaci, and the opposition leader, Isa
Mustafa, held a meeting this Friday in which they discussed the
electoral reform for the general elections.

The two main parties, LDK and PDK, say that June might be the most adequate month for the elections.

“We discussed for the coordination with other subjects and the parliament’s consensual decision to hold elections by the end of this year”, an announcement says.

The two party leaders declared that the preparations should be made in coordination with the political subjects. According to the LDK, they will meet other leaders in the days to come. Thaci and Mustafa have agreed for the coordination of the political agenda in the months to come.

“We agreed that the electoral reform should be concluded by the Parliamentary commission and the government within the first half of March, and proceed for approval at the Parliament. We also agreed to make all preparations for free and democratic elections, monitored by the international community. For this we will make an official request in the European Union and the OSCE”, the announcement says.

Dardan Molliqaj from the Self-Determination movement considered the meetings of LDK and Aak with Prime Minsiter Thaci as wrong. According to him, these meetings are concerning, that’s why this initiative brings dilemmas for the goal of the Aak and Haradinaj.

Molliqaj underlined that the Self-Determination Movement will support this initiative if that would come from harmonization between opposition forces. Meanwhile, it was impossible to contact with the AAK officials, who had spoken about a parliament motion against the Thaci government.
