Kosovo, DLK: Jahjaga should resign

The Democratic League of Kosovo, the biggest opposition party in
Europe’s newest country, asked President Jahjaga to resign, after
failing to take a positive answer from Prime Minister Hashim Thaci for
the implementation of the three party agreement.

MP Vjosa Osmani declared that Jahjaga’s resignation could make way to the Constitutional reforms in the country.

“The President declared that she would have resigned right after the Constitutional amends. It is clear that this cannot be stopped by the Constitutional Court verdict, hence we expect her to resign and give the good example for other leaders and so that we can respect the agreement”, Osmani declared for REL.

The MP declared that if Jahjaga will not resign, DLK will not vote the electoral reform and other amends.

“DLK has no intention to strengthen the competences of the current President and declares that it is on the country’s interest for the President to be elected directly from the people”, she added.

The head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo Parliamentary Group, Adem Grabovci declared that these actions are not in accordance with their principles.

“The Constitutional Court verdicts cannot be objected. We invite the DLK to not block the process of reforms, but vote the amends”, Grabovci declared.

The constant appeals of the DLK for Jahjaga’s resignation are considered by the DPK as a normal request from the opposition.

He added that what Kosovo needs more now is reforms, rather than new Presidential or Central elections.
