Kosovo Customs, agreement reached

The local and international political factor reached an agreement for
the functioning of the Customs points 1 and 31 in Northern Kosovo.

According to “Index Online”, both parties  agreed to take these two border checkpoints under the control of EULEX, with the supervision of Kosovo Police.

According to this agreement, the Kosovo Customs agents will return in these checkpoints for the first time after independence was declared.

According to the Index Online, the command with be under the authority of the Kosovo government.

All excise goods, such as alcohol and tobacco, will not be allowed to pass through checkpoints 1 and 31, but in Merdare.

The other goods will be submitted to the customs control. Responsible for the security remain the peacekeeping forces of KFOR.

The planners of this agreement are: Kosovo Prime Minister, Hashim Thaci; KFOR Commander, Buhler; Temporary EU Representative, Gentillini’ US Ambassador, Dell; Kosovo Interior Minister, Rexhepi; Minister of Integration, Citaku; Deputy Prime Minister, Tahiri.
