The northern Kosovo border checkpoints 1 and 31, which connect Kosovo with Serbia, will be like all other Kosovo customs.

This is what Prime Minister Hashim Thaci declared in a government meeting that was held at midday, after the Kosovo Customs and Police agents were placed in the two border checkpoints.

“I announc that in the first hours of this morning, started the operation for respecting the Customs stamps agreement at border checkpoints 1 and 31. These checkpoints will function like all others, with the same rules. This operation started with success. Kosovo Customs and Police agents, together with EULEX and KFOR now are present at the two border checkpoints. I appeal all citizens once again for calm and maturity, and to fully trust the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, the partnership between Kosovo and international institutions”, Thaci declared.

The Prime Minister also invited Belgrade to give up from the desperate attempts, reminding that Kosovo is one and cannot be divided. The roads that lead to the northern border checkpoints are blocked by the parallel structures, but the Prime Minister did not tell what would happen with the roadblocks. He only declared that those are an obstacle for the European future.

The head of the Kosovo Government invited the citizens to act with maturity, reminding that the actions of the Kosovo Government, which have the support of the international community, are not against any ethnic group.
