In Brussels was held this Friday the first meeting between the Kosovo
Prime Minister, Hashim Thaci, and the Serbian Prime Minister, Ivica
Dacic, under the intermediation of the head of EU Foreign Policy,
Catherine Ashton.
After the meeting, Baroness Ashton considered it as very positive and announced that there would be another meeting between the two heads of governments.
“I met today in Brussels the Prime Ministers Ivica Dacic and Hashim Thaci, for continuing with the dialogue intermediated by Brussels. We agreed to continue the dialogue for normalizing the relations between the two parties, who committed for cooperation. We will meet again soon”, says the press release of Ashton’s office, to which REL is referring to.
The document specifies that the meeting was enabled after the meetings that Mr. Ashton held in New York with the Serbian President, Tomislav Nikolic, and the Kosovo Prime Minister, Hashim Thaci.
“I believe that the dialogue is on the interest of both parties. Its goal is to improve the people’s life and help in resolving the issues for bringing Serbia and Kosovo closer to the EU”, the declaration continued.
The Kosovo Parliament approved the resolution for the normalization of the relations with Serbia with 68 votes in favour, four abstaining and three against.
The resolution was a proposition of the Democratic Party of Kosovo and was voted by 98 MPs.
