Albania and Kosovo have prepared a series of cultural and historic activities for 2018, which coincides with the 550th anniversary of the death of Skanderbeg, Albania’s national hero.
The Presidents of Kosovo and Albania, the Prime Minister of Albania, Albanian Speaker Gramoz Ruci and cabinet members of both governments, placed wreaths today at the grave of Ismail Qemali, in Vlora, where the official logo of the pan-national year of Skanderbeg was introduced.
“Albanians are very proud for this historic figure, a symbol of our unity in our fights for freedom, and an important symbol of Albania’s historic ties with Europe and the entire world”, President Meta said.
“We are a nation with two sovereign states. Both of our states have one single dream, one purpose: full integration in Euro-Atlantic institutions”, Thaci said.
“Let’s make it together by reflecting the glorious history that Skanderbeg wrote. Let’s continue the path of democratic processes and consolidation of the rule of law through transforming reforms towards Europe”, Rama said.
