The agreement between the Democratic Party of Kosovo, New Kosovo Alliance, and the Democratic League of Kosovo has started to take shape and to be implemented.
The requests of the two parliamentary commissions for the amendment of the Constitution and of the Election Code are now submitted to the Parliament.
Part of these commissions will also be the opposition parties of Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and Self Determination Movement, which have confirmed their participation through their officials.
This matter of discussion is expected to enter the Parliament session program, so that the commissions get approved as soon as possible.
“The clock for what the agreement provides has started ticking. This means that we should start working for realizing the Constitution and Election Code amendments”, declared the Parliamentary Group leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Ismet Beqiri.
In order to implement the agreement, the parties have agreed that the commission for the amendment on the Election Code should be led by the opposition parties, while the commissions for the amendment of the Constitution should be led by the governing parties.
The amendments are expected to include even the way on which the next Kosovo President will be chosen by the people’s vote.
