Korce, farmers throw onions away
26/01/2012 00:00
Even this year, the farmers are throwing their products due to the lack of demand.
Hundreds of tons of onions were thrown after they started rotting. Miras, a village known for the cultivation of onions, now is facing each year the same story, without finding a solution. The cause seems to be not only the lack of market, but also competition, after foreign goods have entered the country.
Most of the farmers say that they are risking failure, after throwing for one month tons of onions.
The farmers exclude the possibility that their goods have not been sold due to the price, since they sell it for 25-28 ALLKg, but they insist that no one has interest to buy their goods.
