The Chief of the Korce Police, arrested yesterday by the Interior
Inspection Service, in cooperation with the Korce Prosecution, today has
ended in hospital.

After the arrest, Nikolin Thana was sent to hospital for medical treatment due to heart problems. He was caught in the act while accepting 100.000 ALL as a bribe, and together with him was arrested Jetnor Hysenllari, a Voskopoje Commune employee; Arben Hasanllari,  Voskopje Police employee; and Hysni Myrtollari, who were also charged for bribe.

The Chief of the Korce Police had been under the IIS surveillance for several months, after they had received information that he took bribes from businesses to allow passage of heavy vehicles and for other activities.

The bribe that caused the arrest was received from a local metal scrap collection firm. For facilitating its business, the company paid the Chief of Police frequently and on this case they gave him 100.000 ALL. Police sources say that other cases have also been documented with photographs and video. After the information, the Prosecution started the investigation and the Internal Inspection Service, together with the Prosecution, were able to finalize the operation by arresting the Police Chief in the act.
