Korce celebrates Summer’s Day

The end of winter and the arrival of spring is celebrated in the city of
Korce in the last hours of February 29th with many fires across the
city.
According to the tradition, fires are lit during the night and people jump over them, as a ritual that symbolizes the crossing of evil. All areas of the city lit fires and people cooked the traditional meals.
This is also celebrated on March 14th, the official Summer’s Day.
