One day after the terrible murder in the main boulevard of the city of
Vlore, which took the life of Judge Skerdilajd Konomi, the investigation
team led by Serious Crimes prosecutors has checked all files that had
been administered by the late Judge and the ones that he had currently
under process.
The investigators and the Vlore police have interrogated dozens of eye witnesses that were present when the vehicle exploded. Police sources and Konomi relatives say that the investigators have also interrogated people that he knew, to shed light on any possible conflict about which the Judge might had told to any of them. But it remains still unknown if these testimonies have resulted with useful data for the investigation. What has been confirmed is that there is still no indication that Konomi was executed due to his duty, and that the investigations will also extend in other leads.
Written media published yesterday documents showing that the family of Judge Konomi had won a civil process at the Supreme Court for the inheritance of a considerable area of coastal land in Durres, between Lalzi Bay and Spille. There are 150 hectares of land in one of the most coveted areas of the Albanian coastline. The civil trial was between the Konomi family and the Agency of Property Compensation, which had given this land to someone else. The court verdict, according to the media, was issued by the Supreme Court in May, but the judges have not released the explanatory arguments yet. Sources from the investigation team said for Top-Channel that they had this data, but they gave no official confirmation of having conducted investigations on this lead.
Secure sources from the Civil Chamber of the Vlore Court declared for Top-Channel that the judge had eight cases under process, among which one trial for inheritance testimony and other bank orders for collateral executions and unpaid energy bills.
Two days ago, someone had slashed the tires of Konomi’s new car, what forced him to use the other car of the family, the one where the explosive was placed. The explosion was remotely controlled and the murderer has waited for him to drive in the main boulevard and execute him in front of the public, a method that has been used by the Italian mafia in the mid 80s, aiming not only to eliminate the person, but also to spread terror among the population.

The Minister of Justice, Eduard Halimi visited the family of Judge Skerdilajd Konomi, who was killed in a car bomb in the center of Vlore.
Speaking for the media, Halimi declared that he met the investigation team that is working intensively and now is on the right track.
A few minutes before, I met the investigation team and noted that they are working perfectly well, in cooperation with the best experts of Justice, Criminal Police and the Serious Crimes. I received the guarantee that the investigation will be fast, efficient and the responsible will face law”, Halimi declared.
