It is one of the tastiest and healthiest fruits in the market, but it entered Albania only after the 1990s.
However, Ramadan Sollaku and his family in Vehcan, Librazhd, have invested in producing 500 kiwi plants. Now they need some assistance from the government.
“I have been working as an immigrant in Greece since 1997. I liked it as a product and I thought about planting it in Albania”, Ramadan says.
While production seems good, Ramadan says the market needs a fruit collection system for farmers.
“There is no market. We will harvest and then we will see”, he says.
It seems that kiwis have found the right climate conditions to grow in Albania.
