The murder of two Albanian young men by a Macedonian police, which took
place yesterday in Gostivar, has caused several reactions in Macedonia.
The US Ambassador in Skopje, Poll Wohlers, asked for respective
investigations and appealed for the judicial process to be welcomed with
calm.
“This happens to people who are involved in two different ethnic groups. I believe that the rule of law will dominate. We all must wait calmly for the investigation, because this is how the rule of law function”, Paul Wohlers declared.
The opposition party RDK says that this event kills the co-existence in Macedonia, and they want the Police Spokesperson discharged, who declared on TV that the police agent had killed them on self-defense.
While the BDI, when asked if they will ask the discharge of the Police Spokesperson, he declared that he hasn’t received the declaration of the police.
The two Albanian men, Imran Mehmet, 29, and Besnik Shehapi, 26, were killed by the police agent Jakim Trifunovski, 39, after a banal parking argument.
