Arben Frroku’s life changed completely in the August of the past year.
After some long years in emigration, he returned to his family in the
Vau I Dejes, to be part of his brother’s wedding. He never thought that
on the same day he would take a shocking news for his health.
“I couldn’t stand on my feed after the wedding. The doctor told me that both my kidneys had stopped working”.
His life as illegal immigrant in Greece had not allowed him to make medical visits, and couldn’t discover the disease on time.
“I have lived for seven years in Greece, where I have felt small problems on my feet and my head. I never did specialized visits”, he declared.
Now he is hospitalized in Tirana and Shkoder, waiting for his health to get better.
“They sent me to Tirana and kept me with medicine. We thought that I was ready for the transplant, but nothing could be done”.
In these conditions, doctors recommend him to continue the treatment in a private hospital.
“They made a surgery for the dialysis, and I am continuing it three times a week, four hours each. I have problems with the transportation, because we cannot afford these spending”, he declared.
Arben’s mother has suffered from her kidneys, and she has to pay a lot for her medicine. Their hopes raised during the electoral campaign, but politicians never kept their promises.
“Parliament Members arrived at our door and promised to make possible the transplant right after the elections. I went to meet them, but nothing could be done”, he said.
“I paid 600,000 in analyzes to save my son’s kidnesy. My wife also found a donor, but it depends if the government will help us for the transplant”, he says.
