The KFOR Command in Kosovo declared this Tuesday that placing conditions
for the freedom of movement in Northern Kosovo is unacceptable.

“The freedom of movement is for the international organizations and all people. The conditions, the freedom of movement only for KFOR and not EULEX, are unacceptable”, the spokesperson Uve Novicki declared.

Novicki underlined that the KFOR commander, Erhard Drew has made this clear to the Kosovo Serbs in the meeting held this Saturday.

“General Drews declared that the freedom of movement must be reached without any conditions, for everyone and at anytime. Anything different to this is unacceptable”, Novicki declared.

De Marnhac, two variants for Northern Serbs

The chief of the EULEX mission, Xavier Bout de Marnhac proposed two variants to the Northern Kosovo Serbs for the free movement.

According to the Serbian daily newspaper “Blic”, the variants are: 1) EULEX will be allowed to move freely through road, while Kosovo Custom and Police agents will be transported with helicopters; 2) Eulex will offer logistics for the custom agents.

According to this media outlet, none of these versions is accepted by the Northern Kosovo Serbs, since they do not accept any kind of presence of the Kosovo Albanian Customs agents in the border.
