KESH starts exporting energy

After two years of severe energy crisis, Albania is exporting once
again. Sources from the Albanian Power Corporation (KESH) say that they
are exporting 9 illion KWH of energy each day, but more than half of it
is deposited in Kosovo, and the rest is being sold.

KESH has produced energy at full power for the last days. Official data show that the three state owned hydropower plants at the cascade produce more than 22 million KWh each day, and the general production reaches more than 26 million KWh each day.

But even with this production rate, the water level is still maximal, almost to the critical point. According to KESH, the water level at the Fierza Lake is 293.6 meters. only 2.5 meters below the maximal point.

The lower water flow level has stabilized the Fierze Lake for the last days, but today’s heavy rains brought the anxiety back.

The HPP dams cushioned the heavy rains of February, because the Fierza water level was 280 m since then.

But the basins have no more room, and while weather forecasts predict heavy rains for the next week, the north-western areas of the country risk massive floods.
