The Kosovo Power Corporation (KEK) has announced the emergency situation
due to the difficult position of the energy in Kosovo after the recent
snowfalls and the low temperatures.

The news came from the Director of this Corporation, Arben Gjuka, who says that the extreme weather conditions have hampered the power production and the demand is in its peak.

“The low temperatures have created difficulties. We have big defects and many damaged appliances, especially the generating ones. There will be power cuts for everyone, except the high priority institutions”, Gjukaj declared.

The director says that this situation will continue until the weather conditions will be improved.

The citizens say that they are being obliged to use their wood stoves for heating their homes, due to the lack of electric power.

KEK officials that this winter is the coldest in the recent three decades, and they ask the consumers to minimize the energy consumption from 08:00 to 11:00 and 18:00-23:00.
