This weekend is expected to mark the greatest flux of incoming Albanian
emigrants for this summer. Kakavija border checkpoint, one of most
important entrances from Greece, is handling the greatest number of
emigrants who turn for their holidays.
Border authorities say that the flux of individuals and vehicles is very high. There have been long queues, and 5000 Albanians have returned to their country only today, and more than 1300 vehicles.
In this busy day, the Albanian part of the border is working with 6 toll booths, three in the entrance and three in the exit gates, while the Greek one is working with 3 booths in the exit and one in the entrance gate.
The flux is expected to continue until this Sunday. Border authorities appeal to make use of the afternoon hours, in order to avoid long queues. Noon hours are not recommendable, due to the high temperatures.
