The Albanian writer, Ismail Kadare, declared from Seoul, South Korea, that he was happy to be honored with the prestigious Pak Kyong award for 2019.
The award will be handed over to the Albanian writer on October 26th, in Wonju, through a special ceremony.
The genius of Albanian literature said for the audience that Albania has been among the most isolated countries in Europe, under dictatorship.
But Tirana, he said, is very close to Italy and people could feel the influence of the Western world.
He was also asked about the winner of the Nobel prize for literature, the controversial Austrian writer, Peter Handke, who had supported Miloshevic.
Kadare said that Hanke should have not won the Nobel Prize: “I know him personally and I have dined with him several times. There is a line that literature cannot cross, but Handke crossed it. Murder cannot be accepted in any circumstance”, Kadare declared.
