Justice Reform session goes on without opposition

The opposition was not present in this Monday’s session of the Justice
Reform Committee, but this didn’t stop the majority from getting on with
the agenda, which now includes the approval of seven draft-laws.
Without these draft-laws, the Constitutional Amends cannot be
implemented.

“Every work done by this Committee is an unilateral action, only for creating leverage with negotiations”, declared the Vice Chairman of this Committee, Oerd Bylykbashi.

“Opposition’s boycotting is the wrong choice”, said the chairman of the Committee, Fatmir Xhafaj.

The new agenda sees July 15th as the last day for passing the seven draft laws. But will the negotiations be blocked if these laws are passed without the opposition?

“If something will be influenced by this, we may change one, two or even three articles of this draft law”, Xhafaj underlined.

“They are admitting that it will be done only to be undone again. The only way is to agree on the only remaining issue and plan all the next laws based on this”, Bylykbashi said.

The final draft law that was left for discussion is the one about vetting judges and prosecutors, which is the only issue that divides parties.
