Justice for January 21st

On the verge of the second anniversary of the January 21st tragedy, the day when 4
protesters died in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Head of the EU delegation in Tirana, Ettore Sequi,
after expressing his regret for what happened, reiterated the
importance to establish an independent judiciary in Albania.

Sequi declared that toady is the second anniversary of his arrival in Tirana, on January 18th, 2011.

“The January 21st tragedy took place three days after my arrival and I was very saddened. With the second anniversary approaching, our thoughts for this tragic event go to the victims’ relatives. I want to express my deepest sympathy for their loss. This anniversary also brings us in front of the fact that the investigation process is not over yet. Justice must be served. All Albanian politicians owe this to the people they represent. They must work together to build a stronger rule of law”, Sequi declared.

Only by showing that they have the force to fully implement the rule of law, Albania can progress in its EU integration path.
