Albania was the only European country together with Ukraine to face increase in oil prices in July, according to Russian website “autotraveler.ru”. In the retail pricelist published twice a month, all other countries but these two had benefited from price reduction.
According to the website, 1 liter of oil in Albania had gone up from 1,29 Euros, to 1,32, and has not change for the first two weeks of August, even though in all the other countries prices have gone down.
Oil prices price “curve”, have come down sharply in international stock markets, something not reflected in the internal market. Combined with high taxes and abusive behavior from oil merchants, this has put Albania in the top of fuel pricelists. Today a liter of oil can be bought from 184 to 187 lekë at retail price, nearly 1,3 Euro. And according to “Fuel Prices Europe”, this puts Albania as the ninth place in Europe with the highest oil prices, surpassing even much bigger economies with higher GDP.
