Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future While the discussions for amends have affected all Albanian courts, the
Court of Serious Crimes think that some amends should not happen.
The Former President of the Court of Serious Crimes, currently a judge at this court and member of the High Council of Justice, thinks that the law for the functionality of the Court of Serious Crimes has entered in act six years ago, and essential improvements are needed now, starting from the article for the way how the judges should be protected and even to their limited mandate. In total, 11 articles should be changed from law 9910.
“Law 9910, dated 24 July 2003, for the organization and functionality of the Court of Serious Crimes, provides a 9 year mandate for the members of this court. On 1 January 2013, some judges will have their mandates expired. This limitation creates insecurities and decreases the guarantee for the stability of a judge’s post”, Hallunaj declared.
