Judge removed from January 21st case

The Court of Appeal accepted the request of Ndrea Prendi’s lawyer to remove Judge Fatos Qato from the January 21st case.

According to the Court, Qato has conflict of interest.

Referring to the request of lawyer Genc Gjokutaj, the Judge’s wife is part of the Socialist Party structures and this is the subject that organized the January 21st demonstration.

This argument was seen as a conflict for Judge Qato in the case against Ndrea Prendi, Agim Llupo and Margarit Kume.

The January 21st case has only one judge, Astrit Haxhialushi. The two others were removed, since Judge Agron Papajani resigned by request of the opposition, since he had been part of Agim Llupo’s first hearing session, and Qato because of his wife.

Two other names will be chosen by lots for the most important case of the Albanian judiciary.
