The Prosecution of Serious Crimes, which is investigating the murder of
Judge Skerdilajd Konomi, declared that they are basing their
investigations on the suspicions that he was killed for property issues.

Sources at the Serious Crimes Prosecution declared that they have blocked every possibly helpful document, together with the years-old odyssey of court verdicts that Skerdilajd’s father, Fotaq Konomi, together with his relatives, had been following while requesting the return of dozens of inherited land properties along the Durres coastline, at Gjiri i Lalzit, near Rrushkull and Hamallaj villages.

Besides the case that was won this May at the Supreme Court, the Tirana Prosecution task force declared that four months before his murder, the prosecution has recorded two other court cases for these lands, which were still under process. One of these lands has been registered after Judge Konomi filed a report for falsified documentations against another family that aimed to take the 43 hectares of land.

The investigators declared that after this report, the scientific lab had proved that the other party that pretended the land, some Tirana’s oldest families, had falsified documents in the archives. But the names of the officials who manipulated this document remain still unknown.

Meanwhile, the second file is related to another considerable land in the Lalezit Bay, Rrushkull village, which is under investigation by the opposing lawyers of Konomi. It remains unknown if this other land is as big as the other one, for which the court had given its verdict. On the other hand, although police declares of being very near to reveal the murderer of Judge Konomi, the Prosecution of Serious Crimes is very reserved for the names of the suspects.

All thy know is that the murder has blown up the car of Skerdilajd’s wife in the center of the town for killing Konomi and for giving clear threat messages to the others. Judge Konomi was killed this Friday, a day on which he had planned to celebrate his marriage anniversary, a marriage in which he left two young children.
