While the Parliament is expected to approve the draft laws of the anti-defamation laws, many journalists protested in front of the Parliament.
Enton Abilekaj, form Dosja.al, declared for Top Channel’s journalist, Elda Menga, that the protest symbolizes their effort against having their voices shut down by the laws.
The journalists have decided to put a black scarf on their mouths to symbolize their protest.
“If we stay silent today, we will not be able to speak tomorrow. There’s no need to speak to attract attention. The black scarf symbolizes the law that will try to shut down the voices of the people. I don’t hink that it is going to happen. It hasn’t happened even under the wildest dictatorships. Those who want to speak are going to speak and accept the consequences. This law will have no effect on journalists”, Abilekaj said.
