Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The first session against the defendants accused for the killings of the
January 21st protesters in front of the Prime Ministry didn’t last more
than 10 minutes, because the prosecutors asked for more time to express
the preliminary requests of the defending lawyers.
After presenting the parties in the process and after making their verification, the leading judge started one of the most important trials in Albania. The Prosecution had no request before starting the judicial evaluation of this event, while the lawyers of defendants Agim Llupo and Ndrea Prendi, asked for the forensic reports of Ziver Veizi and Faik Myrta to be declared invalid, claiming that they have been conducted one day before the Prosecution took the decision to start them.
The two acts for which the defense is demanding invalidity are very important for the judicial process. The prosecutors asked for more time to give their explanations regarding this pretense. The court decided to give them 15 days, until the next session on June 4th.
This is one of the judicial processes that the court has started regarding the serious event of January 21st, where the defendant is the former National Guard commander, Ndrea Prendi, accused of murder in qualifying circumstances against Faik Myrtaj and Agim Llupo, and for the murder of the demonstrators Ziver Veizi and Hekuran Deda, while Margarit Kume is accused of obstructing justice.
Soon this court will start the trial against the IT specialist at the Prime Ministry, Armando Kasaj, who is accused of copying and deleting the server with the footage taken from the Prime Ministry’s cameras.
