January 21st, Prend: We did our job

After rejecting the request for invalidating the two forensic reports of
Ziver Veizi and Hekuran Deda, the Court of Tirana started the trial for
the four killings in front of the Prime Minister’s office on January
21st 2011.

To this process was added a report off the victim’s relatives, (Ziver Veizi and Hekuran Deda) who demand compensation.

The Prosecution read the names of the witnesses and the evidence they had gathered against Ndrea Prendi, Agim Llupo and Margarit Kume. These charges are based not only on the forensic reports made in Albania, but also on those of the FBI.

The former National Guard Director, Ndrea Prendi, pleaded not guilty and declared that he and his National Guard soldiers were simply doing their job/

Prendi declared that they shot with firearms after the fake ones were finished, but only in the air and only because the situation became very violent and the National Guard Soldiers’ lives were in danger, together with the state personalities.

According to Prendi, the Prosecution has no evidence against him and that he has been submitted to psychological pressure.

Prendi accused the Head of the Tirana Prosecution and his dependants that he was obliged to sign the testimony without reading it.  Prendi pleaded innocent, saying that not only laws were not infringed, but they have been very careful, since violent people have entered the Prime Minister’s Office territory.
